Mark Moberg  {Moberg Studio}
guaranteed personal loans
Founder/Administrator

It would be fair to say Mark Moberg was born to be a photographer. After all, his father is a well-respected, and well-traveled photographer in his own right. Moberg studio, which Allan Moberg founded in the 1960s, has been in Tampa for 42-plus years but has had the privilege of photographing weddings throughout the world.

Since the age of seven, Mark has learned from his father many things about the photography process: how to use a camera, how to develop film and how to print in the darkroom. But, as Mark would say, “The best thing I learned from my father was how to see.” Not just the light, but seeing the subject. To see the person in the portrait for whom they are, to let one’s instincts take him or her to a place that reveals their essence.

Today, Mark is himself a master of the craft.

An accomplished photographer for Moberg Studio, he has been asked to speak at various professional photography conventions, which illustrates the respect he has amassed from those within the industry. Mark enjoys all aspects of photography, but primarily focuses on weddings.

Mark loves to spend time with his couples.  “I want to get to know them better.  To find out what is important to them.  It is part of the process for me to find out each couple’s story and then create a narrative.  One of the best places for this is during an engagement session.  I can see them as a couple and see how they connect.  I enjoy seeing how they express their feelings for each other.”  In turn Mark wants the couple to realize that he is not just a person with a camera recording an event.  “I want the couple to see my perspective.  I believe that the couple’s wedding day is an idyllic state that is soft and full of emotion.  I want the photographs to have some timelessness to them, and bring out the emotion and beauty of the event.  It is a fun process that usually ends with me having some new friends.”

“I want the bride and groom to remember how they felt during their wedding day,” Mark says. “The laughing, the soft kisses, the softly spoken ‘I love you’s’ that are exchanged during the wedding — I want them to be remembered and felt like they were yesterday. The only way I know how to do this is to let the moments take me in, and yes, sometimes a tear or two does appear on my face.”

It has taken him years to learn the art, and in some ways he still has many years to go. But he knows there are three things that surmise the defining moments in wedding photography: love, tradition and family.

And this is what brings him back to weddings every time.

Alex & Jocelyn Karas {Voila Cinematic}
guaranteed personal loans
Author

Husband and wife team Alex and Jocelyn Karas bring very different backgrounds to their event film business and in doing so, create a seamless experience and product for their couples.  After years of filming for the family and working at the TV station at his high school, Alex went on to study film at Princeton University where he received his degree in film directing. He also studied video at University of South Florida where he received a Bachelorʼs degree in Television Productions. After graduating from college, Alex produced for some of the hottest television networks in the country including ESPN, MTV, and VH-1. He worked on television shows such as “Hogan Knows Best” and “My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding.” Alex found that although he loved television work, he missed the feeling of connecting his art with the emotion of those around him. Out of that realization, Alex founded Voilà Cinematic. Jocelyn grew up in Kentucky and graduated Suma Cum Laude from Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Artistic expression has always been Jocelynʼs passion. After graduating from college, she lived in both New York City and Los Angeles where she pursued a career in theater. She went on to sing and dance all over the world aboard cruise ships, in regional theatres, and even touring the country in a national tour.  Upon settling down in Tampa in 2003, Jocelyn worked behind the scenes as part of the Creative Team for the entertainment department at Busch Gardens. Seeing the business her husband had cultivated continue to grow, the couple decided that Jocelynʼs artistic eye and love of people would be an asset to the company. In 2007, Jocelyn became the other half of Voila Cinematic. She meets with potential clients, coordinates the details of the wedding day, assists in editing, and acts as a second shooter. Four years later, Voila Cinematic is one of the most sought-after films companies in the southeast. Alex continues to hone his craft. He is one of the only certified Steadicam operators in Florida and has been a featured speaker at several event professional showcases. To Alex and Jocelyn, film is much more than using high tech equipment to put a picture on a screen. It enables them to capture moments forever that would otherwise be left to oneʼs memories. “Watching a couple relive their wedding day through our work is a blessing unto itself. Knowing that countless other people will share their happiness by watching that film is one of the greatest joys we have even known.”
